Pam Pameijer's New Jazz Wizard's ~ Hoppin' Mad : a Tribute to Humph Humphrey Lyttelton, the dean of British jazz. Humphrey was a greattrumpet player, clarinetist, band leader, composer, cartoonist, calligrapher and radio host. At the suggestion of drummer Pam Pameijer, leader of the repertory recording band, the New Jazz Wizards, a group of outstanding musicians was assembled to pay tribute to this great man and jazz icon. The result was a recording which is both joyous and respectful. Without extoling the skills of every musician involved, trumpet extraordinaire Jon Erik Kellso must be singled out for his ability to capture the many nuances of Humph's playing style. Stomp Off is proud to offer to the jazz community this CD, which presents some very hot jazz and a fitting tribute to jazz legend Humphrey Lyttelton.
