Ken Peplowski & Dick Hyman ~ E Pluribus Duo

The Dynamic Duo of Ken Peplowski and Dick Hyman team up for this terrific recording.  The result is a concept album built on, actually, two concepts:  duets between a couple of unusually compatible performers, and a repertoire of musicians' pieces composed over the last 65 or so years by musicians who are well known in their own right such as Django Reinhardt, Zoot Sims, Charlie Parker, and more.  You can't miss with this album!

Bob Snyder  - Born in Danville, Indiana, the son of professional musicians, Bob Snyder played his first professional engagement at the age of eight. He started playing alto sax in the high school band while in the third grade. At the age of ten he was part of a family group called "The Hillbilly Kids" which appeared across central Indiana. At eleven years of age he was playing clarinet with the Hoosier Symphony at Canterbury College in Danville. He appeared on the Horace Heidt Amateur Hour in Terre Haute at the age of thirteen, and became a featured performer with the Indiana State Legion Band in Indianapolis. Bob won first place awards in the All State Indiana Music Contest all four years of high school. Entering Butler University for a semester, he then went on active duty in the Marine Corps.   more...

Feature of the Month

In the Afterglow -Travel back to the days when Olive & Boyle was a state of mind and Gaslight Square was the hippest place to be in America.  The tornado that swept through in 1959 destroyed much of the district but in its wake rose a spirit that hasn’t been matched anywhere since.  Gaslight Square became the center of culture for many St. Lousians and musicians.  Some of these local favorites became national stars on the world stage because of the spotlight that Gaslight Square emitted.

MP3 Downloads Are Here!

We have teamed up with several independent labels to begin offering MP3 downloads to our customers. In the next few months we will be releasing several out-of-print rare Stomp Off Records releases as MP3 downloads for a terrific price of $.99 per song or $9.95 per complete album. These will feature the near-CD quality 192 kbps MP3 files that will allow listeners to hear again some marvelous music that has become unavailale for many years. We plan on beginning with these terrific releases but will expand in the years ahead to include other rare recordings from labels you know and love.
